Herman@s Orgullos@s en Las Americas (HOLA)

UNC Asheville’s HOLA, Herman@s Orgullosos en Las Americas – Proud Sisters and Brothers in the Americas,connects students with the Latin@ community throughout Western North Carolina. HOLA organizes on campus events and volunteer opportunities in the community. We also sponsor and support a number of Latin@ groups in the community including TELASH (Teatro Latino de Asheville), COLA, Nuestro Centro, and Defensa Comunitaria.

Spanish Tutoring and Conversation

Marcela Garza, Tania Mateva, and Ilan Unger are the peer tutors this semester for Spanish. The tutoring sessions are held in New Hall 111 on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 pm, and in New Hall 118, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 pm.

Sigma Delta Pi Objectives:

  1. Honor those who excel in the study of Spanish language and the study of literature and culture of Spanish speakers.
  2. Honor those who have made ​​Hispanic contributions in contemporary culture, and make sure they are better known in the world of English speakers.
  3. Encourage university students to understand and become interested in Hispanic culture.
  4. Promote friendship and mutual respect between Spanish-speaking and English speaking peoples.
  5. Serve their members so that all contribute to the achievement of the goals and ideals of the club.
