Susan C. Anderson

Class of '78

Susan Anderson's double major in German and French set her on an academic career path. After completing her studies in 1978 at UNC-A, where she had learned German from the newly hired Dr. Henry Stern and from Prof. Gullickson, she spent a year studying German at the University of the Saarland in Saarbrücken (Germany) on a Fulbright grant.

Kate Bove

Class of '09

While at UNC Asheville, Kate Bove went to Bolivia on the short term study abroad trip and loved it so much that she went back after graduating. She is currently at NCSU working towards a Masters of Spanish Language and Literature.

Patricia Close

Class of '07

Patricia currently teaches at Countryside Montessori School in Charlotte, NC.  This is the first Montessori school in North Carolina to extend the curriculum to the high school level.

Daniel Holcombe

Class of '10

Since graduating in 2010, Daniel has served as President of the North Carolina Professional Interpreting Association (NCPIA) and as Program Coordinator of the WNC Interpreter Network, Buncombe County Medical Society.

After graduating in Spanish from UNC Asheville, Charles Litwin worked in Oaxaca, México, as a private language teacher for international businesses and tourism-related professionals.

Class of '08

Caitlin Nelligan, class of 2008, is currently finishing up her second year living in Madrid, Spain, working in a bilingual school teaching English to primaria and secundaria students.

After spending seven weeks in Paris, studying French language, literature, and civilization at the American University of Paris, Emily received her BA in French and Art in December 2010.

The faculty of the Foreign Languages Department at UNC Asheville kindled Joseph Patteson's interest in Hispanic literature and inspired him to pursue it in graduate school.
